The Hudnell Education and Recreation Center’s primary mission is to serve black and brown youth and families in urban communities as they reach their full potential through positive, engaging,
educational, and empowering programming that will position them for
optimal impact. We are dedicated to being agents of hope for each family
we encounter.

HowtoHipHop is a literacy program created to bridge the gap between Hip-Hop and education. Students learn about the history of Hip-Hop and the four core elements ( DJ, Grafitti, Breakdance, Emcee). Through these elements, Hip-Hop is used to teach school subjects such as technology, art, dance, and a strong focus on critical literacy. Through the fifth element of knowledge, students are fully supported on their learning journey as they gain new knowledge during this course. This 6-8 week program is engaging, educational, and empowering. Contact us for participation!.

​Be Free is an SEL program created to support young people on their journey as they navigate their youth. We encourage young people as they develop their individuality and identity. We aim to assist young people in developing the skills needed to have a positive self-image, manage emotions effectively, be self-aware, build meaningful relationships, and be free to walk in their truth. Be Free is dedicated to providing youth with the social and emotional competencies needed to thrive. This 6–8-week program is engaging, educational, and empowering. Contact us for participation!

The Off-Season is a 10-week basketball training and development program designed to help young athletes sharpen their skills, improve performance, and build confidence on and off the court. Through structured drills, conditioning, and personalized coaching, participants gain the tools to elevate their game, stay active during the off-season, and prepare for the upcoming season with focus and discipline.
